A FLEETING THOUGHT

We should not assume that public schools always reinforce teachings given in the home concerning ethical and moral conduct. We have seen introduced into many school systems false ideas about the theory of man's development from lower forms of life, teachings that there are no absolute values, attempts to repudiate beliefs regarded as supernatural, permissive attitudes toward sexual freedom that give sanction to immoral behavior and "alternative lifestyles", such as lesbianism, homosexuality, and other perverse practices.

Super Trip
2004

LIAHONA PRESENTS:
OUR 2004 SERVICE TRIP TO MEXICO CITY!

      ***BOTH TRIPS WERE FULL***

9 days and 8 nights in Mexico City. Normally, these trips are 3/4th's history and fun and 1/4th service. This year we have changed that schedule around and it is 3/4th's service and 1/4th history and fun. Students who attend this trip need to be willing to get dirty and work hard. We will be staying in dorms at the Mexico City Temple and two hotels. We have the opportunity to help at Saint Martin's orphanage. This orphanage is run by the Catholic Church and houses 100 children, infant through 10 years of age. We will be distributing toys and clothing for these orphans, as well as playing with them and loving them. Trip #2 will also provide dental and medical services to the children.

We will join other LDS youth from stakes in Mexico City for a clean-up service project in Mexico City and take advantage of various service opportunities with the missionaries. We will be distributing clothing to the students at Benemerito, the LDS church's school in Mexico City.

Arrangements have been made for our group to do baptisms for the dead (adults may do an endowment session), go through the Visitors Center and attend church at the chapel next to the Temple.

We will spend a day at Teotihuacan with its massive pyramids of the Sun, Moon and Stars from the Mayan and Aztec periods. We will go to the Museum of Anthropology, tour the Catholic Bascilica which is the most important Catholic building after the Vatican, and see the oldest cathedral in Mexico.

      Dates: July 8 - 16 and July 21 - 29, 2004
Cost from Salt Lake City: $795. This includes airfare, lodging, transportation and entrance fees.
If you arrange for your own flights, the cost is $395.
All participants need to bring their own food and spending money.

This was a wonderful opportunity to spend time with Liahona friends (old and new), become immersed in the culture of Mexico and be of service to others.
